My first draft of a Raidraptor deck using the new support from PHNI, as I get the opportunity to test more I will continue to improve the ratios.
The cards in the side deck are cards I reckon could be run but I haven't gotten the chance to test yet.
The new support is amazing, here are my thoughts on the new cards:
Raidraptor - Noir Lanius is both an amazing combo starting and flexible extender. This card is a one card combo, able to search Raidraptor - Pain Lanius by targeting itself allowing you to summon Raidraptor - Force Strix and begin comboing. It's second effect is useful allowing easier access to the rank 3 and 5 Raptors increasing the flexibility of your combos.
Raidraptor - Bloom Vulture is an amazing extender and recovery tool. The first effect allows you to continue swarm and if it can be activated with no monsters on field it'll mean that these birds no longer lose to their normal summon being negated. It's second effect gives the deck extra grind game and gives you a way to explosively recover on turn 3/4+.
Raidraptor - Roost is the searcher, recycler and draw power the deck needed all in one! Allowing you to search for Raidraptor spell/traps on BOTH turns means more flexible combos and more resources for next turn. It's second effect might not seem as strong but I reckon it's secretly the better effect of the two, by shuffling back birds we can now run less copies of cards such as Raidraptor - Force Strix and reset our graveyard so we can keep comboing next turn, plus the draw effect is an added bonus letting us extend further and making giving us a higher likelihood of drawing any handtraps we decide to run.
Raidraptor - Barrage is a nice form of negation and a nice recycler. Sadly the first effect does target which means some cards will be immune to it, however because it can target any card as long as you have a raptor XYZ on field you can use it to deal with troublesome continuous effects (cough cough Kashtira Birth cough). The graveyard effect is an alright one as well by getting one your birds back to hand from either grave or banished your turn 3/4+ will be more explosive, plus you can do some funny stuff such as recovering and using Raidraptor - Booster Strix twice in one turn.
Rise-Rank-Up-Magic Raidraptor's Force is honestly insane, it is both an amazing RUM card and technically a form of interaction. By letting you essential treat an XYZ summon like a Synchro summon you can very easily get to any of the higher ranking Raptors and because it can be activated during your opponents MAIN AND BATTLE phase you can summon cards such as Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon and the new Raidraptor - Rising Rebellion Falcon to disrupt you opponent's strategy.
Raidraptor - Brave Strix is a great searcher and a nice attack booster for your bigger birds making them just that bit tougher. Being summonable off of Raider's Knight means it is easily accessable and with the ability to search any Raptor spell/trap or RUM spell its an incredibly flexible combo piece. It's attack boosting effect though not that impressive is also a nice bonus, giving cards such as Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon an extra 1000 attack means NOTHING the opponent has is going to beat it in battle.
And finally last but not least:
Raidraptor - Rising Rebellion Falcon is incredible boss for the archetype, a towers, an interruption thanks to the new RUM spell, and has a lot of potential for shenanigans. Destroy EVERY card the opponent has on summon is great especially since it can be summon on their turn and the fact that it burns for the combined original attack of every destroyed monster means an opponent could loss just by trying to push for lethal. The restriction on the burn damage might seem a little annoying but is in reality really easily to meet. The fact that monster is UNAFFECTED by other card's means that the opponent can't even negate it and if they somehow survive the burn damage they're gonna have a hell of a time getting off the field. It's final effect is an interesting one to say the least, being able to copy the effect of any Raptor XYZ in grave has a lot of applications from copying Raidraptor - Force Strix for a search to copying Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon for the ultimate OTK card, this effect is going to make the deck a lot more interesting to both versus and play.
That's all from me for now, in future versions of this deck list I intend to include basic combos and strategies to make the most of the deck and also discuss potential techs and engines that could go with.
Until then though, have a fun time playing with these new and improved rebel birds and goodbye!
