Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
A Guide to Shining Sarcophagus Magician Girl Dogmatika
Welcome to the show of the century, where I present a one-of-a-kind magical act. Before continuing, I will address a few matters. For starters, this deck can likely be improved by dropping the Magician Girl theme, as they are a bit underwhelming as an archetype. I choose to use them over the other Dark Magician support, due to my own personal preferences. Another thing is that I run several search cards with very few targets. I’m the type of guy who prefers to get my main combos online as fast as possible. If my starters end up being potential bricks, well, that’s the price I pay for instant gratification. To make a long story short, this deck can be optimized, but in it’s current form, it is meant to exist as something unique and (hopefully) amusing to whoever faces against it.
Deck Master: Dark Magician Girl, The Magician’s Apprentice
What I love about her is that she’s easy to summon and if you draw into either Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic or Gandora G the Dragon of Destruction, you can really bring the pain. The main combo is as follows:
1) With either Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic or Gandora G the Dragon of Destruction in hand...
2) Summon Dark Magician Girl, The Magician’s Apprentice
3) Search Shining Sarcophagus and activate it
4) Search either Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic or Gandora G the Dragon of Destruction, whichever is not in your hand.
5) Special summon Dark Magician and Gandora
6) Gandora wipes the field (WARNING: Cannot activate if you're unable to use it's Special Summon effect)
7) Gandora special summons a (likely strong) Silent Magician Zero, which provides spell negation. (If that's not possible, go for Archfiend's Advent)
8) Dark Magician revives himself and searches Secrets of Dark Magic
9) Use Secrets of Dark Magic to fusion summon Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon during an opponent's turn
Don’t forget that you still have your normal summon, which means you can freestyle a bit.
Overall, not a bad combo. You get two negators and some guaranteed direct attacks if everything goes through. Another note about the Deck Master is her discard to summon effect. The White Forest cards do not add themselves to the field if discarded to fulfill her summoning condition, however, you can pitch Performage Trick Clown or Lost Wind with no issues. That all said, the White Forest cards will be most useful if discarded by Summoner Monk or Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight.
One last note about Dark Magician Girl is that due to her level, it is very easy to use her to synchro summon Chaos Angel, due to the card breaking the rules of it's own summoning mechanic. Good level 4 cards are easy to come by, and I personally prefer using her along with the Dogmatika cards as materials in order to get both effects of Chaos Angel.
The Magician Girls
Like I said Magician Girls are not the best archetype, as much as I enjoy them. They only really work if your opponent doesn’t read them and just rams into them without thinking. I’d say the only really standout cards are Berry, who is a great searcher, Kiwi, a neat handtrap/protector, and… Perfomapal Sky Magician Girl. The last monster is certainly the weirdest, especially with her AI generated sounding effect.
Weirdly, she works, and she can be special summoned if you go through with the Shining Sarcophagus combo. I personally suggest starting off with Berry Magician Girl if you are able and using her effect to add Sky Magician Girl to your hand. When she is summoned, you can send Performage Trick Clown to the GY and summon it back. With three monsters in play, you'll have enough materials for Selene. Selene is great since she be used to bring out Accesscode. By the way, Performapal Skullcrobat Joker can also be used as a searcher to start this combo, but there aren't enough targets in my build to justify his inclusion.
Blazing Cartesia Combo
Here’s another combo that packs quite a punch. You start it by playing Blazing Cartesia, which can be searched out through cards like Summoner Monk and Guiding Quem. Once you follow all of these steps, you will have access to a few beefy bodies as well as access to Shaddoll Winda as a floodgate.
1) Summon Blazing Cartesia
2) Fusion summon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon using Cartesia's effect
3) Use Granguignol's effect to send El Shaddoll Apkallone to the GY
4) Use Apkallone’s effect to search for Shaddoll Schism
5) Activate Schism during an opponent’s turn, summoning El Shaddoll Winda
6) Optionally, if the conditions are appropriate, you can use Granguignol’s effect to banish it and summon Despian Luluwalilith for a negate, boost, and potential search (Note: I no longer run Luluwalilith in this build, but I like providing options)
Another note here is that my deck also has other ways to send Apkallone to the GY, so if you want, you can start this combo in the middle.
The Rest of the Deck
Honestly, there isn’t that much to say about the remaining cards. For the most part, it’s just generic good stuff that works with Spellcasters. Overall, this deck is just a weird collection of cards that mainly functions due to small archetypal overlaps. These commonalities resulted in a surprising amount of synergy and that inspired me to make this strange deck.
Another note is the Dark Magician support. I only used as much as I considered to be necessary in the deck, preferring to focus on the main theme of Magician Girls. Should more Magician Girl support ever come out, I may end up dropping some things from this engine. For any fans of Dark Magician, feel free to add more if you wish, as I imagine the synergy is likely good.
One more thing to consider is how this deck can change in the future. If, theoretically, there were support that would force the opponent to attack your Magician Girls and other monsters, I could see Yubel as a worthwhile addition to the deck, as each piece of Yubel support is within our Domain. The main issue is that it wouldn't benefit from the Spellcaster support. Still, only time will tell how this deck may change.
Thank you for taking the time to read my primer.
